In justifying the takeover of parts of Ukraine, the Russian president branded the country an Soviet-era artificial creation. Putin stressed the importance of Soviet leader Lenin in the early stages of Ukraine.
In justifying Russia’s right to take control of parts of its neighborhood, the president overwhelmed Vladimir Putin highlight the history of the march over a hundred years.
Putin explained why he considers Ukraine a stateless state. The founder of the Soviet state, the Bolshevik leader, was given great importance VILeninwhose statues in Russia still resemble the past.
“Ukraine is the creation of VI Lenin”
Putin proved that the architect of today’s Ukraine was Lenin.
– It is a fact that modern Ukraine was created by Russia – more precisely, Bolshevik communist Russia, said Putin.
According to Putin’s grim pun, Ukraine could be “named in honor of Lenin.” This Soviet expression that has adorned the names of factories or military academies is not easily translated.
Old Kievan Rus has sometimes been seen as the original home of the Slavic state and the predecessor of Moscow. Instead of a thousand years of history in Ukraine, the emphasis in Putin’s history is on the Soviet era.
The Russian president also referred to the dictator To Joseph Stalinwhich he recalled, had annexed parts of Poland, Romania and Hungary.
In this way, Putin reinforced the image that even today’s Ukraine can thank the Soviet Union for its existence.
However, the Soviet Union also caused the starvation of millions of people during the violent forced collectivisation of agriculture in Ukraine in the 1930s.
“For some reason Khrushchev donated Crimea to Ukraine”
In the Soviet Union, the borders between parts of the country did not matter because the whole kingdom was ruled from Moscow. But Putin has reason to recall:
– In 1954, for some reason, Khrushchev took Crimea from Russia and donated it to Ukraine, Putin described.
– This is how the territory of Soviet Ukraine was formed.
The Soviet Union collapsed in 1991 and the Crimean peninsula remained in Ukraine. But the gift can be taken away.
“Ukraine has not had a stable state tradition”
Putin also relies on the view that other parts of the Soviet Union were indebted to Russia.
According to this thinking, Soviet Russia supported and industrialized others, provided a common language and Russian culture. The Soviet army took care of the war.
According to Putin, Russia selflessly helped Ukraine even after it became independent after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
According to Putin, Ukraine went down in history to copy the model of other peoples.
– It is important to understand that Ukraine has never had a stable state tradition, Putin said.
“We show what it means to dismantle communism”
The opposite is the case in Ukraine, where the statues of the bowman of the Bolshevik revolution have been removed.
This gave Putin an opportunity to threaten Ukraine. He pointed out that the “dismantling of communism” does not have to stay halfway.
– We are ready to show what the real dismantling of communism in Ukraine means, said President Putin.
