The wild strike is called off – the union wants to stop solo work

Beef is the best Netflix series of the year so

After three days of a wild strike among train drivers on Stockholm’s commuter train call off the strike as planned by the strike committee, at midnight between Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the strikers, train conductors have a safety function and a number of practical tasks during train journeys that the train drivers do not have time to do themselves.

– I don’t think people understand that it is such a heavy responsibility for a person who alone has to be responsible for up to 1,400 people at a time. If someone is unwell, you have to stop the train and take care of them and when it’s finished, you have to continue driving, says Nuru Magram, chief safety officer at ST Pendeln.

Created traffic chaos

The train drivers are protesting that the employer MTR abolished train attendants, which meant that the train drivers work alone on the trains.

The strike has led to major traffic chaos with the majority of departures canceled and great difficulty for people to get around on public transport in recent days. MTR has sued the striking train drivers and is seeking damages.

Certain support from the union

The unions have not supported the illegal strike, but now say they want to end solo work for the train drivers.

In a petition to the Work Environment Agency, the union has requested that the lone staffing be stopped, and shortly the authority will carry out an inspection, reports TT.
