Semeru Volcano, located at an altitude of 3,676 meters in Indonesia’s East Java province, has started to act again.
“The first eruption occurred at 07:10 local time and the second at 08:40. It lasted about 82 to 110 seconds,” said Sigit Rian Alfian, employee of the Semeru Volcano Observatory. Semeru Volcano, where a total of 16 eruptions were recorded during the day, spewed ash and smoke to a height of 2 kilometers.
In a statement made by the authorities, residents were urged not to approach within a 5 kilometer radius of the volcano.
