When the broker in Växjö opened the door on the evening of November 22, 2022, the 73-year-old suspect fired two shots. The broker died and the 73-year-old is charged with murder.
The question has been whether the suspect suffered from a serious mental disorder at the time, which affects what sentence the man may be sentenced to. In the first forensic psychiatric examination, it appeared that the man did not appear to suffer from any such disorder.
Not seriously ill
At the suspect’s own request, the National Board of Health and Welfare’s legal council made a new assessment, where it appears that the council reaches the same conclusion.
In the statement, it is stated that the 73-year-old committed the act under the influence of a mental disorder, but that it was not of such a degree of severity that it can be called a serious mental disorder.
Furthermore, the council writes that there are no medical conditions for handing over the 73-year-old to forensic psychiatric care. Which means that the man may be sentenced to prison.
