Increased need – night shelter on Gotland opens during the day

– Day activities at Birkagården have been in demand and both we and Region Gotland see that there is a need for it, says Anna Lundgren, deacon of Visby Cathedral in a press release from the Church of Sweden and Region Gotland.

The region contributes with a service for one year and Visby Cathedral Parish will have a deacon join the work.

– We know that the need to be somewhere during the day is great for those who do not have stable accommodation, says Hanna Ogestad, head of Region Gotland’s individual and family care.

Birkagården is run by the Visby Cathedral parish in collaboration with Region Gotland, the Red Cross and Hela Människan. The date for the opening is currently unclear, the region states.
