Fishermen rescued after shipwreck

Eleven Indonesian fishermen have been rescued after their two fishing boats sank in connection with Cyclone Ilsa.
Ten of them were found on a small coral atoll without fresh water northwest of Australia after six days, where they built a small shelter from the wreckage. They are now being cared for on the mainland, before being brought back home to Indonesia.
An eleventh was swept ashore after treading water for 30 hours. His nine colleagues are feared to have perished at sea. (TT)

Filming resumes by Baldwinfilm
The shooting of Alec Baldwin’s film “Rust” will resume on Thursday, the production company behind the low-budget western told AFP.
Production was halted in October 2021, after Baldwin fired a weapon that turned out to be live-loaded. The shot hit photographer Halyna Hutchins, who died, and injured director Joel Souza.
The American Hollywood star, who is a co-producer and has the main role in the film, has denied the accusations of causing the death of another. He has repeatedly said he was told by the filming crew that the gun was not loaded.
Baldwin and the shooting’s gun handler, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, both face charges and face up to 18 months in prison if convicted in the upcoming trial. (TT)
Man killed in accident with truck
A man in his 60s has died after being hit by a truck in Arboga, reports Arboga Tidning.
The accident happened at lunchtime on Tuesday and the man was taken to hospital by ambulance. Late in the evening, the police announced that the man had not made it and that his relatives have been notified, the newspaper writes.
It is still unclear whether the police suspect a crime in connection with the incident. (TT)
Seven shot in West Bank raid
Seven Palestinians were shot and wounded in an Israeli army raid in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said.
Six of the people received minor injuries, while the condition of the seventh is more unclear.
From the Israeli side, it is confirmed that an operation was carried out in the Jenin refugee camp. The attack came just hours after two people were injured when a man opened fire on a vehicle in Jerusalem on Tuesday.
Tensions have been high in the conflict-ridden region for some time, but escalated even more in early April when violence broke out at the al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. The incident was followed by rockets being fired from Lebanon and Gaza, which in turn were answered by airstrikes by the Israeli Air Force. (TT)
Shot 16-year-old – has turned himself in to the police
Andrew Lester, 84, is accused of shooting a black teenage boy who accidentally rang his doorbell in Kansas City.
He was released yesterday after posting $20,000 bail.
Today, he turned himself in to the police again and will remain in custody awaiting prosecution, US media reports.
The shooting happened last Thursday. Lester was taken in for questioning and initially released without suspicion, sparking large protests in Kansas City over the weekend.
On Monday, the prosecutor announced that Lester is suspected of assault in the first degree and weapons offences. If convicted, he risks life in prison, writes BBC.
16-year-old Ralph Yarl was shot twice in the head and arm. On Tuesday, he was able to leave the hospital, his mother told CBS News.
Garage has collapsed – one dead and several trapped

Several people are currently trapped after a parking garage collapsed in New York.
At least one person is said to be dead, the New York Post reports.
At least three are said to have been injured.
The garage is located in lower Manhattan. It is unclear how many people are trapped and confined after the collapse.
According to the New York Post, Mayor Eric Adams is on his way to the scene.
The police and emergency services are currently working to try to free and get the people out of the garage.
Heavy fire in terraced house
There is a fire in a terraced house in Borsökna in Eskilstuna.
The alarm came in at 9:22 p.m. The fire started in a storage room and then spread to the terraced house, writes Eskilstuna-Kuriren.
According to the emergency services, there is damage to one of the six flats in the stretch.
– There is extensive fire smoke damage, says Ludvig Tejler, officer on duty at the Södertörn Fire Protection Association.
There are no reports that anyone was injured.
– We are starting to get a handle on the situation and have come so far that we are starting to scale back the effort, says Tejler shortly after 11 p.m.
Explosion in Malmö
Around 9:30 p.m., many people alerted the police about a loud bang on Kirseberg in Malmö.
On site, the police discovered that something had exploded in or near an apartment building.
There is damage in the entrance and in the stairwell.
– No one has been injured as far as I know, says police spokesperson Sara Andersson South Sweden.
The police have cordoned off the site and called in the national bomb squad.
Four injured in knife attack at gym
Four men have been stabbed at a gym in Duisburg, Germany, write Picture.
Three of them are said to be life-threateningly injured after the crime, which reportedly took place in a changing room.
It is unclear whether there were one or two perpetrators. No one has yet been arrested.
A large operation with a police helicopter is underway around the scene.
EU chief shot in Sudan
The EU’s head of humanitarian aid in Sudan has been shot in the capital, Khartoum, writes the New York Times, citing sources with access to information.
Aid manager Wim Fransen disappeared on Sunday evening and was found by his colleagues on Tuesday.
According to the newspaper, he had serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

The emergency services are on the scene at a fire in an apartment building in Borgholm on Öland, the police say.
The fire is said to have started at 6 p.m.
According to P4 Kalmar there has been a fire on all three floors of the house.
– We have evacuated all residents and are currently searching the building for people who may have stayed behind, says the rescue leader to P4.

The two warring parties in Sudan, the country’s military and the RSF militia, have agreed on a 24-hour ceasefire.
This is according to information in Al Arabiya, Al Jazeera and CNN Arabic.
According to CNN, the leaders have agreed that the ceasefire would begin at 6 p.m., Swedish time. But it is uncertain whether it is actually followed.

Mc police collided with deer

There is a fire in a residential building in Axbergshammar outside Örebro, the police write.
Emergency services, police and ambulance were called to the scene.
No people are left in the villa.
Over 20 dead in hospital fire in China
21 people have died in a fire at a hospital in the Chinese capital Beijing, writes TT and refers to the state-run Chinese CGTN.
The fire broke out in a closed care ward and over 70 patients had to be evacuated.
According to videos circulating online, some people climbed out of the building’s windows, using what appear to be ropes made of sheets.
The fire has been extinguished and an investigation will determine what caused it.
