The idea to add the 51 new names to the monument came from Gerrit van der Vorst and Martin Slootweg. In recent years, Van der Vorst and his wife Heleen bij ‘t Vuur have been investigating people in hiding in Zeist. It turned out that the list of names on the memorial in the Walkartpark was not complete. “But they have also taken a broader era and broader interpretation of who does and does not belong on that monument,” says Slootweg of Stichting Committee 4 and 5 May Zeist.
