MTR sues striking train drivers

The train company MTR is suing the striking train drivers in the Labor Court, writes Arbetet. Train drivers for the commuter trains in Stockholm went on a wild strike on Monday. Now MTR requests that the Labor Court make an interim (provisional) decision to declare the strike illegal. As well as ordering the train drivers to “immediately resume work”. MTR believes that the strike causes great damage and that the company risks having to pay a large fine to Region Stockholm. 73 train drivers named in an appendix to the lawsuit must pay damages, MTR demands. MTR believes that the amount that has become “standard” for wildcat strikes, SEK 3,000 per person, is not enough. They refer to the great damage the strike causes and to the fact that the value of money has changed since this standard was set. MTR also requests SEK 100,000 in damages from Seko. They have distanced themselves from the strike, but according to MTR, representatives of the train drivers’ union at MTR have said that it is not their responsibility to get the drivers back to work.
