Now club icon Mikael Tellqvist directs harsh criticism at his own team.
After a long season of HockeyAllsvenskan, there are now only two teams left in the fight to take the coveted SHL spot for next season. The classic teams Djurgården and Modo are currently fighting a raging duel to reach direct promotion.
Djurgården’s attack
The first final match between the teams was won by Modo at home, and on Tuesday evening the second round of this showdown awaits, which will most likely go to seven games. But the aftermath of the first match has mostly come to be about the referees.

The Dif coach Johan Garpenlöv and the sports manager KG Stubble were really upset about the referees’ performance in the loss and went on the attack against the entire referee corps in the HockeyAllsvenskan. Now the club icon steps Mikael Tellqvist out and gives his honest view of his own club’s criticism of referees.

Tellqvist’s criticism
The goalkeeper hero won double SC gold with Djurgården and also Olympic gold with Tre Kronor during his career. But now “Tellan” directs harsh criticism at his own team after the outings against the referees.
– I think it’s going to be a bit messy actually, if I’m being really honest. There were some expulsions that I might not agree with, but the others are expulsions, he says in Svenska Spel’s TV program “Studio Oddset”.

In addition to the criticism of the referees and their performance, Tellqvist was also not particularly impressed by the first final match between Modo and Djurgården.
– It was actually quite boring. I had expected more tackles, more emotions and a bit more foul play – everyone involved, apart from the goalkeepers, kept a pretty bad level really, he admits in his analysis.
