Citizens’ council in Zeist
The municipality of Zeist previously organized a citizens’ council when it failed to complete the budget in 2021. 6,500 residents found a letter on their doormat with an invitation. More than 900 residents indicated that they wanted to participate in the discussion.
Zeist selected 150 candidates from a weighted lottery. The group then made 62 different proposals, of which 40 were eventually adopted by the city council.
