After finding the vehicle, officers suspected the man was driving while under the influence of a drug, police said.
He was arrested and taken to headquarters where a drug recognition expert conducted an evaluation.
While being searched, the man was reportedly found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl, police added.
A 42-year-old Cedar Springs man was charged with impaired driving, theft of a motor vehicle, being in possession of property obtained by a crime with a value more than $ 5,000, driving while under suspension and drug possession. He was released with a short date.
Assault charge
Police responded to a disturbance Tuesday morning at a motel on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned a woman allegedly assaulted an employee and damaged a barbecue.
The 31-year-old woman of no fixed address was charged with assault and mischief. She was released with a short date.
Domestic offenses
On Tuesday night, police responded to a reported domestic disturbance at an apartment in Chatham.
Police alleged a man threatened a woman and made unwelcome sexual advances during an argument.
A 51-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with domestic-related offenses, police said. He was held for lease.
Failing to comply
On Oct. 25, a man was released from custody with several conditions.
One of those conditions stated he was not to communicate with a specific family member or visit her place of employment.

On Tuesday morning, the man allegedly visited the woman’s business and caused a disturbance, police said.
The 41-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with failing to comply with his release conditions and held for lease.
Break-in under investigation
On Tuesday night, Chatham-Kent police responded to a break and enter in progress at a home on Jane Street.
Police said an unknown man had entered the home, looking for the previous owners. No one was injured and nothing was stolen. The man left the home and reportedly kicked the owner’s vehicle, police said.
The suspect was described as being approximately five-foot-four to five-foot-five and was last seen wearing a red hoodie or shirt. Officers searched the area but failed to find the man.

Crashes investigated
On Tuesday afternoon, police responded to a reported fail-to-remain collision on Riverview Drive near Keil Drive in Chatham.
No one was injured, police said. Total damage was estimated at $ 3,000. Officers located a 27-year-old Chatham man believed to be responsible. He was charged with making an unsafe move.
Also on Tuesday, police responded to a two-vehicle crash on St. George Street near Park Avenue in Chatham.
No one was injured and damage was estimated at $ 2,500. A 79-year-old Blenheim woman was charged with making a turn not in safety.
