The high-voltage substation at Breukelen is of crucial importance for the power supply in our province. Sustainably generated energy from the rest of the Netherlands enters here and is converted using transformers so that we can use the electricity. Because more and more (sustainable) energy is being generated and we also need more and more electricity, the electricity network is becoming overloaded. As a result, new homes, companies or schools will no longer be able to be connected to the power network. And the electricity cannot be passed on either. That is why something must be done quickly.
