MeinMMO author Julian Schröder had the chance to talk to David Jackson, Vice President Brand Marketing EA Sports, about the new EA Sports FC brand at an EA event. There he learned how EA invests in community football and what the future of football games might look like.
Over the Easter weekend, EA invited to a press event in London, which we at MeinMMO were also able to attend. Our author Julian Schröder was there and was even allowed to have a conversation with EA boss David Jackson.
EA Sports invests $10 million in community soccer
After separating from FIFA, EA Sports is now breaking new ground and launching its own game, EA Sports FC, instead of FIFA 24 this year. It’s sort of a spiritual successor to FIFA. With “FC Futures” a project is also started to promote youth football worldwide and to invest a whopping 10 million US dollars in the next 3 years.
The starting signal for this was the opening of the Rocky and Wrighty Arena at Turnham Academy in south London.
Present at the opening ceremony were EA boss David Jackson, Emma Hayes, coach of the women’s team at Chelsea FC, and Arsenal legend Ian Wright, who also partly gave his name to the modern pitch at his former school.
EA SPORTS FC is a symbol of a positive football future. And the foundation of that future is to give young people the access and resources to achieve their dreams.

The EA boss also reveals plans to open more community playfields worldwide and tells us about another project in an interview: “In Vancouver, we are delivering a similar playfield at the community level, with the help of an organization called Hope and Health, the indigenous boys giving people access to sports facilities. It’s really, really meaningful to us.”
The future will probably show whether the new global community playing fields can also help to inspire a new generation of children and young people for the future football simulations from EA Sports.
“The opportunity that EA Sports FC offers is immense for us”
In an interview with David Jackson, in addition to the “FC Futures” initiative, the future of EA Sports FC and the evolution of football games are also discussed:
“Nowadays, even with our AAA games, some processes are pretty much the same, especially for players who play very often. I think in the future there will be so much data flowing into these experiences that the gaming experience will be different every time.”
He also reveals that the HyperMotion technology introduced in FIFA 22 is just the beginning and we will see more developments of this kind in the future:
“HyperMotion was a big leap forward for us. It helped players understand what the future could be like. In the future we will invest even more in these experiences because realism and authenticity are two very important pillars for us.”
David Jackson is positive about the future: “The opportunity that EA Sports FC offers is immense for us. We want to build a brand for the future. We want to make sure it’s a brand in football that’s a bit different, also through its identity and the visual quality that we deliver.”
