its over for the game the developers move on

End clap for the Dreams video game, released just before the first confinement in February 2020 in its final version on PS4. In a message posted on social networks, the studio Media Molecule announced the end of the follow-up for its creation game which allowed anyone to shape their own video game. From September 1, 2023, the English developers will finally move on to something else, in particular a new project whose nature we do not yet know. A message has been posted on the game’s official website in order to warn the community of this sad news, but also to remind that these last four years have allowed the English studio to share a lot of beautiful things with players from all over the world.

Dreams is unlike any other game we’ve worked on at Media Molecule. It’s been exciting, challenging and above all an unforgettable collaborative journey with you over the years, from beta to launch, from the first DreamWalk to the 4th Impy Awards. Today we would like to share two important updates for Dreams in 2023, regarding our upcoming server migration and our live service.

So of course, September 1 will not be the death of the Dreams game, since it will continue to be sold and all its features will still be available. On the other hand, it will unfortunately not be necessary to count on an evolution of the platform and the tools, and the multiplayer part however promised on many occasions will therefore never see the light of day. Media Molecule says it will continue to share and celebrate creations in Dreams on its social media, feeds, Impsider roundups, and other communication channels. The heart is heavy, but with this point less, the whole team will be able to concentrate on this new project which we are obviously looking forward to. Of course, it is once again originality that will be highlighted…
