The duel with Sirius Tashreeq Matthews was unfortunate for Djurgården’s goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterström.
First, the 24-year-old had to see the referee’s red card and later it turned out that he had injured his thumb.
Now the club announces that Widell Zetterström will have surgery.
“This means that Jacob will be out of action for a longer period of time and will therefore probably miss the spring season,” said the naprapat Kalle Barrling to the club’s website.
Widell Zetterström:
“Of course it feels very sad. What I initially thought would be one missed match now seems to be several. At the same time, you have to think that it could have been worse, it’s not a cruciate ligament or the like,” he says.
“As always, find the positive in the current situation and hope for a speedy recovery.”
In the match against Sirius, 0–0, André Picornell stepped in when Jacob Widell Zetterström was sent off. Tommi Vaiho is also in the squad.
Djurgården, who have four points after two rounds, next face Halmstad away on Sunday.
