“I will never work for Netflix again”

I will never work for Netflix again

Netflix has been making a name for itself lately with the cancellation of series. The streaming service has already declared 10 series over in 2023, and not always in agreement with the creators. Just in time for Easter, we get the next cancellation message for a series that doesn’t exactly offer classic holiday entertainment.

Sex/Life Season 3 isn’t coming, Netflix is pulling the plug

The dramedy Sex/Life was canceled after Season 2, as the industry website Deadline has confirmed. According to Netflix, the series came to a natural ending in Season 2, with happy endings for key cast members. However, it is unclear whether creator Stacy Rukeyser shares this assessment. It wasn’t until the end of March that she wrote in a tweet about a 3rd season that she didn’t know if there would be a 3rd season.

Netflix

Sarah Shahi and Adam Demos

According to Deadline, the decision coincides with a professional “reorientation” by leading actress Sarah Shahi. She was cast in the pilot episode of the new series by Charmed boss Joey Falco. Should this be ordered as a series, this would lead to scheduling problems in the long term. Whether Shahi would have returned for a third season remains questionable given her recent statements.

Lead actress Sarah Shahi criticized the second season

On April 4, Shahi guest-starred on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast (via Variety ) and openly criticized the production of Sex/Life and the quality of Season 2:

[…] I definitely didn’t have the support from my peers on the show that I had on Season 1. It was a completely different experience for me I’m not afraid to say it.

Shahi says she struggled with the scripts for Season 2 and was disappointed that her co-star and boyfriend, Adam Demos, was barely featured. In summary, she said:

I will never work for Netflix again after saying all this, but I can’t lie.
