Over 1,000 reports of animals getting hurt
Over 1,000 reports about animals that get sick have been received since 2019, when lex Maja made it permissible for healthcare personnel to sound the alarm, TT reports.
The vast majority involve our most common pets – cats and dogs – although reports of other animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, horses, cattle, chickens and turtles also occur.
The law came about after the cat Maja starved to death after being left alone when her owner was hospitalized. The owner had home care but they did not act citing confidentiality.

Hundreds have barricaded themselves in the Al Aqsa Mosque
Late on Saturday, hundreds of people barricaded themselves in the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.
Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls them a dangerous mob and, according to Haaretz newspaper, the police are trying to remove them from the scene.
According to the Times of Israel, the police have decided not to enter the mosque on the Temple Mount.
The celebration of the Muslim holiday of Ramadan is underway and many have gathered at the mosque to pray.
Earlier in the week, the police stormed the mosque in violent ways when, among other things, they fired rubber bullets and tear gas.
In recent days, Israel has been subjected to rocket fire from Gaza, Lebanon and Syria, which has been answered with Israeli airstrikes.
Suspected murder in Ljusdal – elderly woman dead
An elderly woman has been found dead in Ljusdal at 11.23 on Saturday, the police report.
– A man in his 70s has been arrested on suspicion of murder, Pelle Vanstad, police spokesperson.

The police are investigating assault rape in central Stockholm
At 01:00 last night, the police were alerted to a serious crime in Tegnérlunden in central Stockholm.
During the morning, the police state that a man raped a woman in the park.
– A man is suspected of having raped a woman outdoors, says Carina Skagerlind, press spokesperson at the police in Stockholm.
It was a passerby who alerted the police.
According to TV4 News is the vulnerable woman in her 50s.

– My understanding is that it is an unknown person. But we’ll see what the investigation leads to.
An area in the park has been cordoned off during the night and the police have carried out a technical investigation at the site.

Heavy pressure on coroners in the wave of violence
Seven people have been shot dead in Sweden so far this year, the latest police statistics show. In Stockholm, five of the fatal shootings have occurred.

Four migrants have been found dead and 23 people are missing after two boats sank off Tunisia, reports Reuters.
The coast guard in the Tunisian city of Sfax managed to save 53 people on Saturday, two of whom are in critical condition.
The migrants tried to cross the Mediterranean and reach Italy.

Last prosecutor from Nuremberg dead
Ben Ferencz, the last living prosecutor from the Nuremberg trials, has died, TT reports.
He lived to be 103 years old.
Ferencz was one of the prosecutors who brought the Nazis to justice for genocide and war crimes after World War II.
He was also one of the first outsiders to witness and document the atrocities in Nazi Germany’s labor and concentration camps.
The prosecutor fell asleep last Friday night at his home in Boynton Beach in Florida, USA.
A record number of commuter trains cancelled
Hundreds of thousands of travelers in Stockholm have been affected by canceled commuter trains. Never before have so many trains been canceled in one month as in March, reports SVT Stockholm.
According to figures produced by the channel, 44 percent of the departures did not go as planned.
So far, SEK 2.6 million has been paid out to travelers in delay compensation.
There are more unmanned grocery stores
In the Swedish countryside, unmanned grocery stores are springing up – and now there are expected to be more of them, reports say Swedens radio.
Erik Bergh, analyst at the Trade Research Institute, tells Sveriges Radio that the trend is here to stay.
Today there are around 130 stores in various parts of Sweden.
The food giants, including the Ica group, are following suit and already have around 40 unmanned stores today. Around 150 more stores are in the works.
Ukraine: Russia prepares evacuation of civilians in occupied territories
Russia is preparing to evacuate the civilian population of the Russian-occupied regions of Zaporizhzhya and Kherson in southern Ukraine.
This is stated by the Ukrainian military in a post on Facebook.
According to the military, Russia must, among other things, check that the residents have passports and urge them to go south, to the Crimean peninsula.
Evacuation buses are said to leave the area regularly.
According to the Ukrainian military, the civilian population is being informed that forced mobilization will begin at the end of April.

In order for us to call you a crazy driver or your drive a crazy drive, you would have to drive the vehicle in an insane way.
It’s not enough that you’re insane, be a bit calm and careful for yourself inside the car.
