Midjourney, Stable Diffusion… The media workshop welcomes journalist Gérald Holubowicz, specialist in AI, deepfakes and synthetic media, to discuss the impact of generative image AI on the information ecosystem.
Donald Trump arrested by American police, Pope Francis wearing a very stylish down jacket… perhaps you have seen a photo of this kind on social networks or in a WhatsApp group. These pictures are fake. They were created using artificial intelligence services such as MidJourney or Stable Diffusion, two services that generate photorealistic digital images from a natural language description.
The media workshop receives the journalist Gerald Holubowiczwhich for several years the manipulation of digital images by AI and the deepfakes. In this interview, it is a question of the acceleration of these subjects driven by the evolution of technologies but also by busy world news. We also give tips for identifying AI-generated images as disinformation spreaders are increasingly picking them up, for a few dollars a month. There are also questions about intellectual property and copyright issues, and about the regulation of AI.
