25 years ago, the Good Friday Agreement was concluded in Northern Ireland – which put an end to the bloody conflict between Catholics and Protestants. Northern Ireland is still in many ways a divided society, not least when it comes to the schools where most are religiously segregated.
Although the peace agreement states that politicians should encourage and facilitate integrated education, only seven percent of Northern Ireland students attend schools that are mixed with approximately equal numbers of Protestant and Catholic students.
