The creatures you encounter in the monster hunting game Wild Hearts are a mix of animals and nature. The game’s first major post-launch update adds a new monster: Murakumo, where we battle giant wooden boars and giant rats covered with glowing mushrooms.

Wild Hearts director Takuto Edagawa says the new creature has been worked on since the beginning of development, but it hasn’t made it to the game’s release. “From the beginning we wanted to add a fox or a commoner creature, and we wanted to make it a special creature because they have a very special meaning in terms of faith and religion in Japan,” he explains.
