The 20-year-old man was 17 when Pop Smoke was shot dead in a rented apartment in Los Angeles in February 2020. He also pleaded guilty to robbing the rapper at the residence.
The 20-year-old is sentenced to four years and two months in prison, to be served in a youth institution.
Pop Smoke, whose birth name was Bashar Barakah Jackson, turned 20 years old. He had his breakthrough in 2019 with songs like “Welcome to the party” and “Dior”.
According to the indictment against the four suspects, it was the youngest of them, a 15-year-old, who held the weapon when Jackson was shot in the shower. He and the remaining suspects are charged with murder, burglary and robbery.
According to police, the defendants stole Jackson’s diamond-encrusted Rolex watch and sold it for $2,000.
