Ravenswatch re-released on Steam on April 6th. In the co-op game you face dozens of enemies and improve your hero. Random maps are designed to provide replayability.
What kind of game is this? In Ravenswatch you play one of 6 heroes in roguelite style. On randomly generated maps you slaughter your way through enemies with swords, daggers and magic and collect upgrades.
The world is based on various folk tales and legends as well as Norse mythology with an added horror aspect. A “Nightmare” invades your world, corrupting it and you must fight it.
The gameplay is fundamentally that of an action RPG like Diablo: in isometric perspective (“obliquely from above”). In terms of style, it is very reminiscent of Tribes of Midgard or the survival hit V Rising. Ravenswatch has now appeared in Early Access and currently offers:
Is that “like Diablo”? Gameplay-wise, Ravenswatch looks similar to Diablo, but lacks the RPG component. Instead of constantly improving a hero, you start again and again, as is usual in the roguelite genre.
Here are some real alternatives to Diablo. You can see the Ravenswatch trailer in the video:
Ravenswatch already has plans for 2023 and beyond
Since Ravenswatch is still in Early Access, the game will be in development for a while. In a roadmap, the developers have already revealed what is to come in the future (via Twitter).
In 2023, for example, a new hero will come in spring, as well as ultimate abilities for all heroes, a teleport system and more items. In the summer there is the second chapter with new enemies, quests and a new map.
More chapters will follow later, the endgame, heroes, enemies and more. The feedback from the players should also be taken into account. You can find Ravenswatch on Steam for currently €17.99 as an introductory price.
The first reviews give the game a “balanced” rating, but Ravenswatch has only been available on Steam for about an hour. Above all, the narrow content is criticized, which will only be expanded further over the course of the year. More meaningful reviews will probably come later.
