The lack of eggs is noticeable in the grocery stores, in some the shelves are sparse, in others completely empty. In Håkan Lundman’s grocery store, the shelves are full in the morning, but by lunchtime it is already sparse among the packages.
He buys eggs from a local producer from Avesta, which has not been affected by salmonella and bird flu, but because demand is so high now, supplies are smaller than usual.
– What is happening now is that the eggs are becoming more expensive, and because there is a shortage, we cannot have any campaigns this year. So in terms of money, we will probably turn over as much as usual, even though we sell fewer eggs, says Håkan Lundman.
In the clip: “Couldn’t find a package the other day” – empty shelves in several grocery stores.
