The subway can be quite a stressful, boring and quiet place. But not if you are at Hässelby Strand station when the gatekeeper Hector Riveros is working. – You have to change the subway. Public transport is a bit too boring, he says. At Hässelby Strand subway station, travelers are greeted by joy and music when Hector Riveros works as a barrier guard. He plays Latin American music and dances in the booth. Wants to change the subway Hector Riveros has worked as a barrier guard since 2003 and since five years ago he has been working on the green line towards Hässelby strand. He tells us that he wants to change the subway. – There is nothing wrong with the travelers themselves, but with the atmosphere itself. I think public transport is a bit too boring, he says. In addition to dancing and singing, he likes to talk to the travelers in several different languages, which he has learned during his time in the barrage. He thinks it’s fun to liven up the mood as long as he doesn’t disturb the traffic. What do travelers say? – So far we have had no complaints. However, they usually wave and say hello and wonder where the music is when I don’t have the music on. – They come in and hear the music and say how nice that you have music, he continues.
