Eleven countries cooperate against inflation

The leaders of eleven countries in Latin America have come together to jointly fight the galloping inflation.
Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador says the goal of the collaboration is to give people access to food and basic products at better prices by, for example, removing import duties and other barriers.
The priority goal is to reduce costs for “the poorest and most vulnerable,” according to a statement released after the meeting, which was also attended by the leaders of Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Honduras, Venezuela and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Like many other parts of the world, Latin America is struggling with rising inflation. The worst is in Argentina, where inflation in 2022 landed at around 95 percent, which is the highest reading in more than 30 years. (TT)

Children’s healthcare is closed due to a shortage of doctors
Children’s care at Örnsköldsvik Hospital will be closed for just over a week due to a shortage of doctors.
The decision applies to childbirth, obstetrics and the children’s department at the hospital. According to Region Västernorrland, expectant mothers will be referred to Sundsvall Hospital, approximately 15 kilometers away.
The closure is due to an acute shortage of paediatricians, caused by sick leave and leave of absence.
Children who become acutely ill will, despite the closure, be able to seek emergency care at the hospital. However, they may be referred to Sundsvall if they need to be admitted, reports Örnsköldsvik’s Allehanda. (TT)
Investigation into Bolsonaro’s diamonds
Brazil’s former president Jair Bolsonaro has arrived at police headquarters in the capital Brasilia after three months in the United States.
He is being investigated for receiving jewels worth several millions from Saudi Arabia and then trying to hide them.
The president, who stayed away after the election loss last year, has not answered what he intended to do with the diamonds. (TT)
The call: Ban private flights on Bromma
The red-green government in the city of Stockholm wants private aircraft to be banned at Bromma airport, reports P4 Stockholm.
But it is the government that must make the decision, by changing the ownership directive to Swedavia, which operates the airport.
– The emissions are 40 times more per person compared to a regular air traveller, we think that is unreasonable, says Åsa Lindhagen (Mp), Stockholm’s environmental and climate citizens’ council, to the radio.

Suspected murder in Hagfors – three arrested
A preliminary investigation regarding murder has been started after a person was found dead just in a community north of Hagfors in Värmland.
The dead person was found this morning.
The alarm came to the police at 09.40. The person was found outdoors in a residential area.
A preliminary investigation regarding murder or manslaughter was opened.
During the day, four people were arrested by the police. Three of them are now under arrest and the fourth has been released.
The police write on their website that several locations are currently cordoned off.
A technical investigation is underway and is expected to continue during the evening.
Two cars and moose in accident on E18
A car collided with a moose on the E18 outside Töcksfors in Värmland on Wednesday evening.
Then another car drove into the other.
Six people are involved in the accident, but their injuries are unclear.
There is a complete standstill in traffic on the E18 in the direction of Norway. The road will be closed for a couple of hours, the police wrote at 9:30 p.m.
Cobra caused an emergency landing
A South African pilot had to make an emergency landing after a long cobra appeared next to him in the cockpit.
Rudolph Erasmus flew four passengers in a private plane. At 11,000 feet, he suddenly felt something move beside him, at his hip.
At first he thought his water bottle was leaking.
But when he looked down, he saw a cobra disappear under the chair.
The discovery led to his decision to land immediately.
– Everyone on the plane kept calm, luckily, he tells the local news site Lowvelder.
No one was bitten by the snake.
Injured man found in stairwell
Shortly before 8 p.m., the police received an alert about an injured man in a stairwell to an apartment building in Svedala.
The man was taken to hospital by ambulance. The police suspect that he has been the victim of a crime.
The incident is being investigated as aggravated assault and aggravated unlawful threats. One person has been arrested.

Man arrested for rape
Early on Wednesday evening, the police received an alert that a woman had been raped indoors in Södertälje municipality.
A suspected perpetrator was arrested at the scene.
The woman was taken away to be examined and then interviewed.
The police do not want to give any more details about the incident, but say that they have been able to secure some items at the scene.
They will also do a technical survey.
Dipped own chopsticks in everyone’s ginger – caught
Two men in Japan used their own chopsticks to eat ginger from an all-you-can-eat bowl at a sushi joint in Osaka.
A breach of common sense and etiquette, most people would agree. But now the men have been arrested for “sabotage against business operations” write The Guardian.
The men had posted videos of their meal on social media and described the whole thing as a joke. But in Japan, the problem of dirty behavior in restaurants is taken very seriously – and has started to be take action against “sushi terrorism”.
For example, a 21-year-old has been charged for licking a bottle of soy sauce that was on a conveyor belt.
In another video, a person is seen licking the spoon of a jar of green tea powder that was used by several diners.
