Frölunda linked grip on the semi-final series against Växjö.
Thank Lasse Johansson for that.
The goalkeeper is now praised to the skies after the show at Bortais – and everyone is now saying the same thing.
– He is the best in Europe, says Radiosport’s Magnus Wahlman.
So far, the SC finals in ice hockey, at least when talking about Frölunda, has been a lot about Joel Lundqvist. The loyal servant and team captain is doing his last season as a player, and everyone in Gothenburg is now hoping that he can end his career by lifting the SM trophy.
Huge tributes
But alongside Joel Lundqvist, it is another Frölunda player who carries the team on his shoulders. Lasse Johansson was a prestige signing when he was brought home before the season, and he has not disappointed anyone. He has been perhaps the series’ best goalkeeper, and in the playoffs he has stepped forward even more, becoming a real ghost for Växjö in the semi-final series.
Frölunda lost the first semi-final big, but then there was a win on home ice – and yesterday it was a total show from Lasse Johansson. The goalkeeper kept a clean sheet when Frölunda won 1-0, and afterwards supporters and experts were lyrical, and everyone says exactly the same thing.
– Lasse Johansson, absolutely brilliant. Europe’s best hockey goalie, says Radiosport’s Magnus Wahlman.

“He is absolutely brilliant”
Wahlman is also supported by the expert Jonas Andersson, SVT, who points out that Johansson should have a given place in the spring WC.
– Second clean sheet in the playoffs for Lasse Johansson Right now he is playing absolutely brilliantly. He has won in the KHL before, he has won the SHL before, and right now he holds WC class, he says.
However, Lasse Johansson was close to having his zero destroyed. With minutes left in the game, there was a lot of chaos in front of Frölunda’s goal, and it was unclear for a long time whether the puck had crossed the goal line. After video review, however, it was determined that Växjö did not have the margins on their side, and Frölunda could take the lead in the semi-final series.
– I saw the puck clearly so I was never worried. Good by Loui too! He was awake there and poked the puck away. It’s things like that that make us throw ourselves and sacrifice ourselves for each other, says Lasse Johansson.
The next game, the fourth in the series, will be played on Thursday night.
