The 25-year-old woman who pressured the moderate Member of Parliament Kjell Jansson for 65,000 kroner after a suspected sex purchase is convicted of extortion, the Stockholm District Court announces. The penalty will be probation with community service. It was in December 2022 that Kjell Jansson, according to the indictment, had sex with the woman in his overnight apartment. Before they separated, he allegedly gave the woman SEK 5,000 when she asked for money for a taxi and to pay the rent. A few days later, the extortion allegedly began. The woman then accused Jansson of having bought sex from her and threatened to spread a picture taken at the time from the apartment. According to the investigation, the woman made him pay for a chest operation of SEK 50,000 so that the threats would not come true. Arrested in February At the beginning of February, Kjell Jansson contacted the Security Police, who started a preliminary investigation. At the time, he had managed to bring over 65,000 kroner – in addition to the breast surgery, he also allegedly paid for a television, a travel ticket and additional rents. The now convicted woman was arrested at the end of the same month and charged with suspected aggravated extortion and attempted extortion of another SEK 20,000. According to the verdict, she must also pay back the money she received from Kjell Jansson. However, the district court does not consider that the crimes should be assessed as serious. Suspect of sex purchase Jansson is himself suspected of a crime, and the special prosecutor’s chamber has started a preliminary investigation into suspected sex purchase. He has taken a time out from his political commitments until further notice. – We are satisfied with the verdict, which states that my client was subjected to blackmail. As for the suspicions that have been directed at him, I do not comment on these at the moment, says Kjell Jansson’s lawyer Björn Hurtig to TV4 Nyheterna.
