The Wagner boss: “Legal control” over Bachmut
Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the Russian private army Wagner Group, claims that the town of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine is “legally” captured after months of fierce fighting.
Prigozhin writes on Telegram that the building for the city’s administrative seat is under Russian control.
In actuality, however, the battles over Bachmut will continue. The Ukrainian forces are concentrated in the western parts of the city, according to Prigozhin.

Montenegro has a new president.
37-year-old economist Jakov Milatovic defeated incumbent President Milo Dukanovic in a second round of elections.
The result is seen as a small surprise, writes TT.
Dukanovic has been in power for several terms, both as prime minister and president, since the 1990s.
The office of president is mainly ceremonial in Montenegro, but the outcome of the presidential election is seen as an important hint for how things might go in the parliamentary elections in June.

90 percent of Paris residents want to ban rental bikes from the city’s streets.
That was the result after the referendum that was held on Sunday, writes TT.
The French capital introduced electric scooter rentals in 2018. They quickly became popular – and criticized.
The vote is not binding, but Mayor Anne Hidalgo has vowed to follow the outcome.
Orpo declares election victory in Finland
The coalition party’s party leader Petteri Orpo declares victory in the Finnish election.
99.8 percent of the votes have been counted and the Samlingspartiet has won 48 mandates.
– This is a big deal. We will fix Finland, says Orpo.

Grand theft at university
Computers and telephones worth around half a million kroner have been stolen from Karlstad University, writes Värmlands Folkblad.
The thief struck early on Friday evening. Between 30 and 50 computers and around 30 mobile phones have disappeared.
Everything was still in its original packaging.
No one has been arrested for the grand theft. But the police will go through the university campus’ surveillance cameras and hope to be able to secure clues there.
Strong earthquake in Papua New Guinea
An earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale has shaken Papua New Guinea.
The quake occurred at a depth of 80 kilometers, according to EMSC.
There are currently no reports of injured people. The quake occurred 46 kilometers from the town of Ambunti.

The police received an alarm at 6:15 p.m. that a 25-year-old man had been shot in the Strömmensberg district in Gothenburg, writes GP.
The shot man was found outdoors in a residential area. He is taken to hospital by ambulance.
– He was awake and talking when he was taken away by ambulance, says the police officer on duty Pernilla Henry.
The police are investigating the incident as attempted murder. During the evening, a large effort was underway at the site.
– No one has been arrested, but several people have been taken in for questioning. It is cordoned off and we are carrying out several investigative measures, says Pernilla Henry.
Bridge closed – car hit the barriers
Traffic over the Dalbo Bridge in Vänersborg has been completely closed since 5 p.m.
The police speak up P4 West that a car ran over the barriers.
There is no forecast for when traffic can resume. According to Sweden’s Radio traffic editor, it may take until the morning.

One person has died and at least six are injured after an explosion at a cafe in Saint Petersburg.
This is reported by Reuters and refers to Russian state media.
The cafe is owned by the leader of the Wagner Group Yevgeny Prigozhin, according to Echo.
A well-known Russian military blogger is said to have died in the explosion, sources told the state news agency Ria.

Train traffic at Årstabron in Stockholm was stopped on Sunday.
According to Aftonbladet’s readers, SJ has called out over the loudspeakers that a boat has driven into the bridge.
– There is something wrong that is being investigated. I have not yet received any information about any forecast, says Ronny Hörstrand at SJ’s press service.
Trafikverket’s press manager Bengt Olsson stated that the bridges were being investigated.
By 6:30 p.m., traffic was back on track.
Trump makes statement on Tuesday
On Tuesday, Donald Trump will make his first public statement after being impeached.
This is reported by the Reuters news agency.
Trump was indicted Thursday on suspicion of making illegal payments to porn star Stormy Daniels to hush up an affair they had.
It is the first time a former US president has been charged in a criminal case.
Body found in search for missing woman
The police have found a dead woman outdoors in the Gävle area.
The find is linked to the search effort for a woman from Västernorrland who had been missing since March 22.
The identity has not been established, but relatives of the missing woman have been informed of the development, the police say.
According to the police, there is no indication that the dead woman was the victim of a crime.

There is nothing in the constitution that prevents a person who has been charged or convicted of a crime from standing for election, or taking office as president.
