Which class is the strongest in Diablo 4 right now? MeinMMO tells you which of the 5 classes you are doing best with.
Where is the list from? The MeinMMO editorial team played the Diablo 4 Open Beta extensively and tested each of the game’s 5 available classes at level 25. We also looked at how well some of the best players in the world are handling their classes.
Based on our experience and the impressions of experts, we give you an assessment of the individual classes. There are still no rankings against which the classes can be measured objectively.
Keep in mind that this is the state of the beta. So we explain which of the pre-release classes were the strongest. The ranking can change accordingly after the release. We will update this list.
Blizzard wants to balance the classes with the data from the beta. However, we do not yet know how much and what exactly will be adjusted. on what’s to come can be found here: 6 things from Diablo 4 that won’t come into play until release
1st place: Necromancer
Necromancers were only playable on the second weekend of the Open Beta, but they quickly won over many experts. Twitch streamers Asmongold and Maurice Weber, for example, think necromancers are absolutely OP.
The necromancers can summon skeletons and flesh golems, or directly attack or protect themselves with curses, bone spears, and other spells. With their damage, even at low levels, they can kill most enemies instantly.
Necromancers are particularly strong at lower levels, as their companions can slaughter opponents on their own. You don’t have to do much. The class is also ideal for beginners.
Later on, necromancers will probably become a little weaker, but traditionally they are already among the stronger classes. One of the best builds can be found here:
2nd place: Huntress
In the Beta, the Huntress is the only class that could outrank the Necromancer. It’s slightly stronger against single targets, but not as strong against very large groups. Particularly good players even defeated the toughest boss of the beta alone with the huntress. The boss is intended for 12 players.
The big advantage of the class is that you can choose whether you prefer to play in close or long-range combat. You can choose from daggers, swords and bows, but also traps.
For now, it looks like the melee builds are stronger, but also come with more risk. You have to dodge better and stay close to the enemy to unleash its full potential.
Slayers should also be far ahead later in the endgame. As a build, we recommend a nimble rogue build:
3rd place: Sorceress
Sorceress sits just short of the top two spots and we’re only keeping it in third place because the Legendaries from the beta weren’t as strong here. The sorceress’ basic abilities are pretty decent, but they don’t get that much better later on than with the necromancer or the huntress.
The advantage of the sorceress is that you can build some builds that work almost by themselves. With a spell or two, you can keep moving and just slaughter enemies on the side. Also, she didn’t need a lot of legendaries to be strong in the beta.
In addition, sorceresses have strong defensive skills that somewhat offset their “glass cannon” role. With various elements they can control opponents and are therefore also useful together with other players in groups.
Sorceress should also be a solid choice later in the endgame. As a build we recommend a Frost Sorceress:
Alternatively, you can try our shock build:
4th place: Barbarian
Melee fighters have a harder time in the early stages of Diablo 4, and many players felt that barbarians were the ones to have big problems. You have to constantly play close to the opponent, take everything and only have limited self-healing.
Later they can hold their own and even endure a lot, but the way there is rather difficult and even then their damage lags behind that of other classes.
If you’re playing in a group and want to take on a tank role, the Barbarian is still great. Above all, you can keep the enemies at bay for the classes that are less resilient and let them dish out the damage.
Later, barbarians should become stronger, although we don’t know when that will be yet. The most promising build right now revolves around the bleed mechanic:
5th place: Druid
One of the biggest criticisms in the beta was that the druid is too weak. After the class hadn’t been playable since Diablo 2, many fans were looking forward to the druid, which now falls well short of expectations.
No matter the build, the druid cannot compete with other classes in terms of damage and durability. He even had the hardest time of all the classes with the first boss in the story.
On the other hand, as a druid, you have the greatest opportunities to live your life out. Whether as a tank, melee, caster or support, druids can take on any role. It’s hard to say how strong they’ll be later.
The druid’s special class mechanic was not available in the beta, which skews the assessment a bit. According to reports, the class should only become really strong at level 30. But that won’t be seen until the release on June 6th.
The build that we’ve had some success with is a werewolf build with its own pack:
The ranking will probably shift again when we know which endgame content is specifically pending and which class can do it best. The long grind at higher tiers is what gives a better indication of class strength.
More information about the endgame will come before release in a dev blog in April. But we already have some information:
Diablo 4 will not show its endgame until April – we already know a little bit more
