With the move of the factory, soap producer Pleines built an entire village. Bert van Eerten of the Den Dolder Historical Association explains how Pleines became the founder of Den Dolder: “He built homes for his staff, but also a ‘school with the Bible’ for the children, a church hall was built in the attic of the factory, a post office, a farm for milk and he even had a cemetery founded when the son of one of his employees died.”
