According to Jan Zoutman, trainer of IJsselmeervogels from 2010 to 2013, the village mentality also plays a major role. “I had Theo de Graaf, Jan Pieter Hartog, Jan de Graaf and Maikel de Harder. They were born and raised in the village and are approached every day about football. They had that fighting mentality by nature.”
