A woman in her 60s died after removing a catheter herself. The woman was treated with severe liver failure at the Central Hospital in Kristianstad and had received dialysis, writes Region Skåne.
She had received a catheter in a vein in her groin, but for unknown reasons must have removed it on her own and subsequently died as a result of bleeding.
The incident has been reported to the Inspectorate for Care and Care according to lex Maria because it is assessed that the death could have been avoided if the individual need to keep the catheter in place had been evaluated, which should be routine.
