In GTA 5 Online there is a lively scene of role players who play together on private servers. The most well-known role-playing server is called “No Pixel”. It is enormously popular, especially among Twitch streamers, who use it to fuel their careers. No Pixel had opened a variant for the Arab world, but conflicts arose there.
This is the situation:
LGBTQ support on server ‘strictly forbidden’
This is what happened now: Twitch streamer “dantexstar” from Istanbul played a character who wore a rainbow-colored bracelet on his right wrist. A show of solidarity for the LGBQTIA+ community.
He was messaged by an administrator on the server to remove the bracelet, saying it was “strictly forbidden.”
The Twitch streamer then received a message via the server’s Discord:
As you know, most Arab countries are Muslim, so openly supporting the LGBTQ community goes against our religious beliefs and culture in principle. We cannot condone any LGBTQ action here, in or out of roleplay associated with Arab No Pixel.
Main server is closing the Arabic branch
What consequences did that have?? The central “NoPixel” server then decided to cut all connections to the Arabic NoPixel and to close it permanently.
This was decided after internal discussions. While we’re willing to make concessions, we’ve decided at this point that it’s in the community’s best interest to end things completely.
