(Finance) – Outside inhabited centers i electric scooters can only circulate on slopes cycle paths or on paths reserved for bicycles. The rule, which was introduced in the decree law extending terms during the examination in the Constitutional Affairs and Budget Committees of the Chamber, clarifies the modalities of circulation of these means of soft mobility, increasingly widespread in cities, to increase safety. The previous provision provided for the possibility of using scooters wherever the circulation of bicycles was permitted and, therefore, also on extra-urban roads.
The provisions on the circulation of scooters in built-up areas: they can only circulate on roads with a speed limit not exceeding 50 km / h, in pedestrian areas, on pedestrian and cycle paths, on cycle lanes, on priority cycle roads, on cycle paths and where circulation is allowed of bicycles.
The decree also extended the deadline by which i scooters electrical marketed in Italy, they must be equipped with arrows and brake lights on both wheels. For scooters already in circulation on that date, the obligation to adapt by January 1, 2024 is confirmed.
