Before the release of the production, which will be released in May, we brought together the things that remained in our minds. What kind of game will System Shock Remake be?
Nowadays System Shock RemakeWhile waiting for the release of , we wanted to take a look at the first version of the production and see what awaits us. System Shock is widely regarded as a beloved classic. It had revolutionary features for video games. It is the most important and prominent production of the series and has a special place in the history of the game.
What kind of game will System Shock Remake be? Is it worth playing?
Notorious for challenging systems when it was released, System Shock was a terribly challenging game to play. It has become more foldable as its fans have been patching the game for years. You’ll understand if I say that the original game didn’t even have mouse control.
Although there was no mouse in the first production, there were too many advanced graphics options, settings that allow you to make adjustments on the engine, even for that day. You could even edit the animations and frame design of the weapons used in the game. With so much customization, it became inevitable for the players to keep the production alive for many years, no matter how much they played.
We lead an anonymous hacker at System Shock. The hacker caught trying to access files protected on the main computer named SHODAN in the Citadel Space Station in Saturn’s orbit is caught and punished. He is put to sleep in a medical room on the Space Station.
The main story of System Shock begins here, with our character waking up from his slumber and finding the station in a terrible state. While she slept, SHODAN began to slaughter the ship’s crew and experiment on it, and anarchy reigned at the Citadel Station.
Shortly after being resuscitated, we receive a message from Rebecca Lansing, the counter-terrorism consultant hired by TriOptimum to contain the Citadel Station disaster. For whatever reason, the hacker’s presence in the medical compartment went unnoticed by the system and tells him that his best hope to stop SHODAN, who is currently plotting to attack Earth, is his neural interface. She explains that if they hope to beat him, they must eventually go to the bridge level of the station where SHODAN’s main CPU is located.
After that, our story begins. We have to fight mutants and robots in order to move forward and complete our mission in the station that has turned into a claustrophobic cyber nightmare. This is where the most important feature of the game comes into play. We are like mice in a maze. As each room you enter opens to another room, finding your way around the space station is a bit of luck.
Although we have a minimap, we embark on a complex adventure so that we can go to the higher level as we progress through the stacked floors.
System Shock, which has a similar structure to Doom, also carries its influence. While transitioning between floors, we both get new weapons and try to heal ourselves with various medical bags we find.
As you progress, the sounds of the environment can create tension for a long time. The screams that disappeared among the computer sounds after a while, “I wonder if I will be among those screams?” It puts the thought on the side of your mind.
When you see a robot you’ve seen before on an increased level of difficulty, you will question why your old weapon did not create enough effect. This will lead you to find new types of weapons and ammo. You will even have a weapon that gives electric shocks in the following levels.
Speaking of guns, we were able to hold seven guns in the original production. I don’t know if this number will be changed in the remake. However, in today’s games, it usually allows us to carry a pistol and a rifle, considering the element of reality.
If you are planning to play System Shock Remake, keep in mind that you will die many times. Because the game can sometimes be extremely difficult even at the normal level. Enemies you don’t see are very helpful in getting you back to your last save point in a few hits.
The main goal of the space station, which is full of traps and puzzles, is to destroy you anyway. For this reason, you are handling the game like an angel of death, and you have to strain all your muscles in order to destroy everything that comes your way as soon as possible. This includes your brain. Because sometimes a puzzle that you never expected can affect your progress in the next parts of the game.
System Shock, in general, proceeds in a structure based on forcing the player. However, it is one of the productions that we call speedrun among the players, which is the fastest to finish the game as soon as possible. The first game took six hours and 48 minutes to complete in the shortest time to date. This record two years ago is followed by a record of seven and a half hours a year later.
Even though it’s almost 30 years old, it’s impressive that people still continue to play. Who knows, you’ll see System Shock Remake is played for 30 years and then REREMAKE comes out.
