Man charged after drugs seized during traffic stop Chatham Kent police

A Ridgetown resident faces charges after officers found drugs during a traffic stop Wednesday night in Chatham, police say.

When officers pulled over a driver on Edgar Street about 9 pm, they learned his license had been suspended and he had been barred from driving after an impaired driving conviction, Chatham-Kent police said.

The driver was arrested and officers seized cash and a significant amount of methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl after a search, police said. The vehicle was towed and impounded for 45 days.

A Ridgetown man, 65, is charged with three counts of possessing a controlled substance for trafficking and operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, police said. He was released on conditions with a May 5 short date.

Chatham man faces assault counts

A Chatham resident faces assault charges after officers responded to a domestic dispute early Thursday, Chatham-Kent police say.

Officers learned an argument escalated when a man spat at a woman and pushed her down at a Manning Drive address in Chatham about 2:30 am, police said.

A Chatham man, 37, faces assault counts, police said. He was released on conditions with an April 24 short date.
