the game is down for quite a while the developers
For many, MultiVersus is a game released last August, when in reality it was early access. It is true that by dint of updating its roster, of communicating on frequentation figures regularly, Warner Bros Games and the Player First Games studio have created confusion. So when the developers announce the (temporary) shutdown of their game, it’s quite a shock. Because yes, next June 25, MultiVersus will close its doors, the game will disappear from circulation for several months even and return to its final form in 2024, when we will be able to test it definitively. A message has also been posted on the official website to explain this decision and answer the many questions from players.

Hello everyone,

This is Tony from Player First Games.

I’m here today on behalf of the entire MultiVersus team to thank you for your support during our open beta. We were delighted to see the interest and enthusiasm from the community and your feedback has been invaluable. We continue to be honored by the accolades the game has received and thrilled to see the fun MultiVersus has brought to players.

Throughout our open beta, we’ve worked hard to create the best gaming experience, and we appreciate all the inspiration you’ve given us. Our open beta was an important learning opportunity for us and a stepping stone to the next phase of MultiVersus.

We know there is still a lot of work to do. As a result, we have a clearer view of what we need to focus on, especially the content cadence for new characters, maps, and modes to give you more ways to enjoy the game, as well as an updated netcode. and other matchmaking improvements. We’ll also be reworking the progression system based on your feedback and looking for new ways to connect with your friends in-game.

To do this properly, we will be closing the MultiVersus open beta on June 25, 2023. As part of this process, we will be pausing updates and taking the game offline while we prepare for the launch of MultiVersus, which we are targeting early 2024.

I’m sure you’re wondering what this means to you. During this downtime, all online modes and features will be unavailable. You’ll have limited offline access to the Training Room (known as The Lab) and local matches, as well as access to your characters and cosmetic items in those modes.

We know this news might be disappointing, but rest assured MultiVersus will be back. We’ll also make sure all of your progress and content carries over when MultiVersus returns next year, with a variety of new content, features, and modes. Along the way, we’ll provide updates, so keep an eye on our social media and website, as well as our dedicated FAQ.

Thanks again to the entire MultiVersus community. We greatly appreciate your passion and enthusiasm and look forward to sharing our next chapter with you.
