A remake of the cult thriller series “The X-Files” may be on the way – with “Black Panther” and “Creed” director Ryan Coogler behind the camera. That’s what original series creator Chris Carter reveals in a radio interview with CBS.

According to Chris Carter, Ryan Coogler plans to “remake ‘The X-Files’ with more diversity in the cast”. Carter does not offer more details, except that he states that you probably have to make a different kind of series today because we live closer to conspiracy theories these days than in the 1990s.

The television series starring Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny as FBI agents in search of conspiracies and the supernatural originally aired for nine seasons between 1993 and 2002. Seven years ago, a two-season sequel came out.
