A gamer has now bought a new external SSD for his gaming system. But it’s not that new. Because when he connects the model to his PC, he finds 800 GB of data from the previous owner on the device (via reddit.com). These include programs that are worth several thousand euros.

Why is this worth so much? The user himself explains that the SSD mainly contains software for instruments. But this one is worth a lot. Because professional software in particular costs a lot of money.
Some explain that software like Superior Drummer and Kontakt alone are worth €400 each. As someone writes (via reddit.com):
“It’s not just a few hundred GB, it’s a few hundred if not thousands of dollars if the license files are there.”
Some warn against use: Not the whole community is enthusiastic about it. Some warn that the whole thing looks like pirated software. And you never know whether the files might end up hiding viruses or other unpleasant surprises.
On top of that, the buyer should check how many operating hours the “new” SSD already has with software like CrystalDiskInfo. However, most agree that he should rather send back the purchased storage medium.
