In the Kuopio Finnish Championships, the women’s quarterback runners ran four of Finland’s fastest ever long distances on the long track. Milja Thureson took the championship with a time of 53.20.
In the 400 meters of the track, the championship stabbed Milja Thureson at 53.20. Viivi Lehikoinen was second at 53.28, Aino Pulkkinen third with a time of 53.29 and Mette Baas fourth with a time of 53.30.
The Finns have run better on the 200-meter track than the 400-meter SE 52.37 Ella Räsänen and 52.9 of the all-time second result Riitta Salin.
– The time was surprising, although the previous 400-meter runs of the hall season have not been successful. I just thought about relaxing, I started to tighten my pace and wondered straight when there were no others to see. I thought we would go then, Thureson said, who ran off the track.
Lehikoinen, who finished second, opened his competition season in Kuopio.
– It was an opening that can be welcomed. January was a bit of an awkward period for me when I had foot problems. But it didn’t feel like it was slowing down terribly. It might even have improved the situation when I got my powers down during training, Lehikoinen said.
Kaasalainen: “Less than 47 seconds was not far away”
Men’s 400 meters Viljami Kaasalainen thanked for the victory with a time of 47.18, which is the third best government result ever in Finland, taking into account the results of both short and long courses.
– I could wait for a hard time, but it still came as a surprise, and it wasn’t far less than 47 seconds. 18 hundredths is a pretty small time at 400 meters. A couple of steps sharper somewhere and it would have come in there, Kaasalainen said.
Holder of the women’s 60-meter SE Lotta Kemppinen opened his season in Kuopio convincingly. She won her third consecutive women’s championship of the season at a domestic top time of 7.26. It is also below the result limit of the World Championships, which Kemppinen broke for the first time last winter.
Although the final brought under the championship and the World Cup limit, the run was not entirely satisfying.
– The run felt really good from 20 meters to 60 meters, but the start was not successful now. There is still a search with the racks and starting position, Kemppinen said.
Samuelsson’s and Purola’s hands clasped together
Men’s 60 meters Samuli Samuelsson ranked 6.73 for the third consecutive Finnish championship. The first 60-meter starts of the season ran Samuel Purola was second at 6.75.
The competition was not without problems for either, as the duo’s hands clung together in the middle of the run.
– It wasn’t a small contact, Purola recalled.
– It put our hands together just right. I didn’t get my hand back properly. But that is the spirit of Kuopio, when there are such narrow tracks, Samuelsson shouted.
This season, Samuelsson, who ran a record of 6.65, was not happy with his time, even though the championship tasted good.
– It was a good feeling to run, but times were sluggish, Samuelsson said.
Purolaka was not completely satisfied either.
– Those departures didn’t really work out. But from what I’ve watched the running intervals, the maximum run is going better than last winter when I ran my record, Purola said.
Mäkitörmä won, Rouvali broke the 17-meter limit
Senja Mäkitörmä won the women’s shot put in a steady championship cent. He pushed 17.05 and defeated the first 17-meter pusher of his career Eveliina Rouvalin.
– It is good that the results of the beginning of 17 were dug back. I am also pleased with the victory, especially in such a tough competition. But I missed a bit of that push of a button, Mäkitörmä said.
Satisfied with her record of 17.04, Rouvali ended the competition season with seventh in Finland’s all-time government statistics.
– Now I got a technically good performance. That’s what it’s been all about, Rouvali said.
– Now I got well in the middle of the ring and thought I could make the end of the push with two legs. There has been a bit of a rush at that end, but now it was time.
Ilona Mononen and Joonas Rinne took the first steps towards a double championship in the Finnish Championship Hall in Kuopio on Saturday. Mononen won the women’s 1,500 meters with a perfect solo run. The slope settled the men’s 1,500-meter victory with a fresh curve.
