Filming for Season 2 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has been underway for months. Now there was a tragic incident on the set in which a horse died. Amazon has already published a statement, while the animal welfare organization PETA has already turned on.

Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series is said to no longer use real animals

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a spokesman for Amazon Studios said a horse was caught in rehearsal for filming the Lord of the Rings series cardiac arrest suffered. The animal was one of around 30 horses on set.

All horses were provided by The Devil’s Horsemen company. Among other things, the company also provided animals for series such as Game of Thrones. In The Devil’s Horsemen’s 50-year history, this is the first fatality of one of the horses on set.

PETA also commented on the incident on the set of the Lord of the Rings series. The animal welfare organization is demanding that Amazon stop using real animals for the shoot with immediate effect. through the Use of CGI The aim is to prevent other horses or other animals from being injured or dying during filming.

It is not known at this time if Amazon will make any changes to the shooting for the remainder of production of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2. The new episodes are scheduled to appear on Prime in 2024.
