The Congolese militia allegedly executed the hostages
At least 17 people taken hostage by a militia in Congo-Kinshasa this weekend have been executed, according to local leaders.
The so-called Codeco militia is said to have kidnapped a number of people on Saturday after three militia members were killed in clashes with a rival group.
Codeco is one of several armed groups in Ituri Province in eastern Congo-Kinshasa. Since the turn of the year, several people have been killed every week in the province, rich in natural resources such as gold.
