Already a scorer against England (2-1 defeat) on Thursday for his debut with the Azzurri, the Argentinian with an Italian passport thanks to a grandfather from Sicily quickly opened the scoring with a header from a corner (15th). Retegui was, along with Gianluigi Donnarumma and Giovanni De Lorenzo, one of only three starters confirmed by Mancini from the side lined up at kick-off – and battered for 45 minutes – against England.
