“This is America” was written by Childish Gambino, actor Donald Glover’s rap alter ego, together with Swedish songwriter Ludwig Göransson. The song was awarded two of the heaviest prizes at the 2018 Grammy Awards.
Rapper Kidd Wes’ claim that “This is America” would be an almost exact copy of his song “Made in America” from 2018 is not true, the judge says.
“A fleeting comparison with the disputed score reveals that the content of the choruses is completely different,” he writes, among other things, in a statement.
Ludwig Göransson and Donald Glover have collaborated for more than ten years, often in connection with music the actor released as Childish Gambino. Göransson was nominated for an Oscar this year for the song “Lift me up” which he wrote together with Tems, Ryan Coogler and Rihanna.
