Ines, 4, likes to watch big sister Alma play handball. But Ines is in a wheelchair and accessibility in the sports hall is poor. – It is very important that she feels involved, says mother Terese. Four-year-old Ines needs a wheelchair to get around, as she was born with cerebral palsy. She would like to have a seat in the stands in the Celsius hall in Edsbyn, so that she can be there when older sister Alma plays handball. – Ines is limited in her own exercise, so it feels even more important that she can at least watch when others do sports, says mother Terese. Written citizens’ proposal There is a lift in the sports hall, but it is not possible to enter the stand itself. There is a narrow passage next to it that you can sit in, but then you end up in the middle of the passage and are in the way. And no companion is allowed there. Also, the view is obscured by a basketball goal. Now mother Terese has written an e-proposal about proper accessibility adaptation of the stand. – I have received a lot of response, there are many who did not think about it before, including us. But there are many who agree, says mother Terese. – I shared that I put the citizens’ proposal on Facebook, then many votes came in at once. Must investigate first Ulf Ståhlberg at Ovanåker municipality says that he is aware of the problem, but says that you must investigate first before you can do anything. Mother Terese believes that better accessibility is not just for her daughter. – It is important for everyone. It is not only Ines, but many with physical impairments who are restricted there.
