PETROL SHORTAGE CARD. The shortage of gasoline lurks, with gasoline stations out of stock in Ile de France, in the West or in the Bouches du Rhône. Where is gasoline still available near you? Find the map and our real-time updated list of gas stations where you can fill up.
[Mis à jour le 24 mars à 14h48] As the weekend approaches, it’s a question that haunts the French: will it be possible to go to work with your car next week or do you risk running out of fuel for lack of fuel ? The situation became tense in a few days in service stations.
If at the national level, nearly 15% petrol stations in France were in supply difficulty Thursday March 23 at midday according to the latest figures published by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, available fuel is scarce in several departments.
Faced with the specter of a gasoline shortage that lurks in several departments and while supplies to gas stations are scarce this weekend, the government announced Friday morning, March 24, requisitions in blocked refineries. After Fos-sur-Mer (Bouches du Rhône), it is now the Gonfreville site in Normandy, a refinery of the TotalEnergies group which is concerned according to the announcement made by the Minister of Energy Transition Agnès Pannier-Runacher on RMC.
These requisitions had already been taken for the Fos-sur-Mer oil depot. Find below the figures in the most affected departments and below the list of service stations that have gasoline near you. The table allows you to enter your department and/or your municipality to find the list of stations, the fuels available and the dates and times of the last updates.
Is gasoline available near you? We have set up a search engine to find the list of fuels available in the stations of a department and/or a city. Only the places where the station managers have indicated the gasoline available and its price are displayed. The information is classified by date and time of update (“MAD”), to maximize your chances of finding fuel:
This search engine is based on the “instant flow” of fuel prices in France, provided by the Ministry of the Economy, is available on the official website: https://www.fuel-prices.
While the fuel supply to Ile de France stations was becoming scarce, the government took the decision to unblock the Gonfreville refinery in Normandy on the night of Thursday March 23 to Friday March 24, 2023. The site is considered strategic since it feeds a pipeline connected to Ile de France. “VSthis is one of the places where fuel is injected into the pipes, and the pumping started up again just now“, explained the minister, specifying that the police unblocked access to the site the night before the start of “ultra-targeted requisitions” of employees to restart the oil site.
This Friday, nearly 15% of service stations in Paris are in difficulty to supply any type of fuel, a percentage which rises to nearly 30% in the Val de Marne against 19.2% in the Hauts de Seine. In the outer suburbs, Essonne was the most in difficulty according to the latest lifts with 17.2% of stations in difficulty with supply. You can find the list of stations and the fuels available at this station in our table above or by clicking here. It tells you availability and price displayed according to direct feedback from the operator.
Loire-Atlantique, faced with the cessation of fuel deliveries from the Donges refinery since the start of the week, has seen the number of stations in a situation of shortage explode. 53.37% of petrol stations ran out of at least one fuel on Thursday March 23, 2023 according to the latest figures available. Mayenne, Morbihan or Ile-et-Vilaine are more than 40%. The list of stations and available fuels can be found in our table above or by clicking here. By mentioning your department or even your municipality, this table indicates the availability of fuel and the price displayed according to the direct feedback from the operator.
The Bouches du Rhône are also still reported with 40% of stations in partial rupture. The Fos sur Mer refinery continues to operate at minimum flow and fuel deliveries were still interrupted on Thursday despite the requisitions taken. In Marseille, 11 service stations remain requisitioned to ensure the refueling of so-called “priority” vehicles. Find the list of stations with gasoline available in our table above or by clicking here. Enter your department or municipality in the menu. It then indicates the stations open, the type of fuel available and the price displayed and entered by the operator of the service station.
The Ministry of the Economy also provides a map and a search engine. To facilitate your search, first fill in your region, your department or directly your municipality to display the stations near you.
This search engine and this map are made from the “instant flow” of fuel prices in France, provided by the Ministry of the Economy and available on the official website: https://www.fuel-prices.
- By zooming in and then clicking on a point on the map, you can display all the information about the station and scroll through the prices of each fuel with arrows.
- Out-of-stock fuels are either explicitly mentioned on the map, or absent from the stations
- It is up to the point of sale concerned to declare its station and its prices to the Ministry. Some groups, such as Total, also provide data that is sometimes more detailed.
Another possibility is to use the map developed by the MonEssence.fr app, which is usually used to identify fuel prices near you based on feedback from users who themselves fill in the prices observed at the pump. In times of shortage, the app puts a map of the shortage online, always based on user feedback. It is not always fully up to date or updated regularly, but it provides an overall map of the situation in France by listing stations short on one or more fuels.
Day by day, the list of departments taking measures to restrict the sale of fuel grows. After Vaucluse and Gard where the purchase of fuels (gasoline, bio-ethanol, diesel such as LPG) is limited to 30 liters for cars and vehicles weighing less than 3.5 tonnes and 120 liters for heavy goods vehicles over 3.5 tons until Thursday on prefectural decree, the prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes also prohibited “the sale and purchase of fuel in manually transportable containers other than for professional use, justified by the customer”. In other words, impossible to fill a jerry can in addition to your tank… Here is the latest list updated this Thursday, March 23:
