The man, who is in his 50s, came to Ronneby shortly after the crimes were allegedly committed in Syria. Since then, according to his defense lawyer, he has lived an ordinary life in the city as a self-employed person.

But on Tuesday he was arrested by the police task force during a dawn raid, and since then he has been detained.

Now he is wanted in custody for two cases of serious war crimes. The prosecutor does not want to comment on exactly what he is suspected of having done.

– I cannot go into that at the moment, says Reena Devgun, prosecutor at the National Unit against International and Organized Crime.

Two people are set up as plaintiffs, and are thus considered to be victims of the man’s suspected criminality.

– It is too early in the investigation to comment on what they have been involved in or what accusations are being made against the man. But the prosecutor believes that these are serious crimes, says Ghita Hadding Wiberg, plaintiff’s counsel.

According to data to BLT the man must have belonged to the Islamic State, IS.
