According to the information received, the Board determined that Meta and WhatsApp, which processes the personal data of the relevant persons in Turkey within the scope of the ex officio review and which are subject to the provisions of the Personal Data Protection Law, have not fulfilled this obligation in time, although they have an obligation to register with the Data Controllers Registry.

For this reason, the Personal Data Protection Board, which ruled that Meta and WhatsApp separately be fined 2 million 665 thousand lira, also decided to instruct Meta and WhatsApp to fulfill the obligation to register within 30 days. (AA)
