Finland’s NATO membership took significant steps forward in the Turkish and Hungarian parliaments on Thursday.

In Turkey, the country’s foreign affairs committee has approved the ratification of Finland’s NATO membership. The committee unanimously supported Finland’s accession to NATO.

The proposal regarding Finland’s ratification was presented by the deputy foreign minister Burak Akçaparwho reminded that Turkey is now only proceeding with the ratification of Finland’s membership application, not Sweden’s.

– Since the beginning of the process, Finland has been more ready and determined in its actions to meet our country’s expectations, Akçapar said, according to the Turkish state news agency Anadolu.

In the session, Akçapar brought up as examples of Finland’s actions, for example, the intervention of the police in demonstrations where the symbols of groups classified as terrorist organizations by Turkey would have been displayed, and the removal of restrictions on the export of defense equipment.

The Foreign Affairs Committee sent its own decision on the approval of the ratification proposal to the Parliament, which makes the final ratification decision.

Hungary confirmed the parliamentary session schedule

Hungary, on the other hand, announced that its parliament would discuss the ratification of Finland’s NATO membership on Monday next week.

The ratification of Finland’s NATO membership is the second topic of the parliament’s afternoon session, and according to ‘s information, the decisive vote will take place at 5 p.m. Finnish time at the earliest.

The Hungarian parliament is also dealing with the ratification of Sweden’s membership, but a vote is not planned for Sweden.
