Connor McDavid became only the fourth player to score 60 goals in one season in the 2000s.

It is the fourth season of the 2000s with at least 60 goals. Russian Aleksandr Ovechkin shook 65 goals 15 years ago, Canada Steven Stamkos scored 60 goals in the 2011–2012 season and the USA Austin Matthews had 60 hits last season.

Earlier this season, McDavid became the first Canadian player to score 50 goals in a season since 2011-2012 and Stamkos. Even between 2006 and 2012, a total of seven Canadian players broke the 50-goal barrier.

The frenzied McDavid has scored the most points (138) in 27 years this season. Mario Lemieux manufactured in the period 1995–1996 161 and Jaromir Jagr 149 points.

Holds the single season points record Wayne Gretzkywho scored 215 points in the 1985–86 season.

According to Eliteprospect, McDavid is currently on pace for 66 goals and 155 points. This season, McDavid has a chance to become the third most efficient player of all time in one season. Steve Yzerman holds third place with 155 points.

McDavid is playing in his eighth season in the NHL. He has broken 100 points six times in his career. Also in the 2019–2020 season, McDavid had reached 100 points, as he had managed to score 97 points in 64 games, but the corona pandemic ended and interrupted the regular season.
